National Weather Service Issues Coastal Flood Advisory

Roadways in low-lying areas could flood.

MANASQUAN, NJ - The National Weather Service has issued a coastal flood advisory for Ocean and Monmouth counties today.

Minor flooding is expected during the time of this morning's high tide. High tide on the Jersey coast occurred between 8 a.m. and 9 a.m. this morning. High tide on the back bays usually occurs several hours later.

There could be a tidal surge of half a foot to around a foot above the astronomical tide. Wave heights off the coast are expected to be between 3 to 6 feet.

"A coastal flood advisory means that minor tidal flooding is expected," according to the NWS. "Minor tidal flooding often results in some road closures. Usually the most vulnerable roadways will flood."

Minor coastal flooding is also a possibility during high tide on Wednesday morning.
