Neptune Woman Who Stabbed Boyfriend To Death Pleads Not Guilty
Monique Moore acted in self-defense, her attorney says.

The Neptune woman charged in the stabbing death of her boyfriend during a Sunday fight in her apartment pleaded not guilty in a Tuesday court appearance, according to app.com.
Monique Moore, 24, is charged with first-degree murder in the death of Joseph A. Wilson, 29, also of Neptune, and third-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, Monmouth County Prosecutor Christopher Gramiccioni has said.
Authorities say Wilson died after being stabbed numerous times during an altercation with Moore.

Moore's Freehold-based attorney, Michael Chazen, called the incident a "most classic case of self-defense" and said Moore maintains her innocence.
Moore "needed to use force to protect her own life," Chazen said.

Assistant Prosecutor Danielle Zanzuccki asked that Moore's bail be left at $1 million. Monmouth County Superior Court Judge Honora O'Brien Kilgallen the request, but left the door open for Moore to request a formal bail reduction.
Moore, a longtime employee of Kiddie Academy in Neptune, has the support of all of the academy's staff, said her supervisor Amy Weiss.
"The truth will come out," Weiss said.
