Route 71 Shark River Bridge in Belmar to Reopen Friday Afternoon

The Shark River Bridge, between Belmar and Avon-by-the-Sea, has been closed for repairs this week, but is set to reopen on Friday.

The New Jersey State Department of Transportation has plans to reopen the Route 71 Shark River Bridge on Friday, October 24.

The movable bridge, which connects Belmar and Avon-by-the-Sea, was closed to traffic this week to allow maintenance to be conducted, including electrical work to replace and upgrade control equipment and gearboxes on the movable portion.

The closure began at 7 a.m. on Monday, October 20, and is scheduled to continue until 4 p.m. on Friday.
