Spring Lake Residents Find Burglar Inside Their Home Friday Night
A man broke into a home in Spring Lake Friday night and he was confronted by the homeowners in an upstairs bedroom, said police.
SPRING LAKE, NJ — A man broke into a home in Spring Lake Friday night and he was confronted by the homeowners in an upstairs bedroom, said Spring Lake Police.
The man fled and he was later located by police in Neptune City, where he was arrested.
The homeowners on Tuttle Avenue in Spring Lake called 911 just after midnight Saturday, at 12:06 a.m., to report that an unknown man had just entered their home. He was confronted by the homeowners in an upstairs bedroom and fled.

The residents were able to provide surveillance footage of the suspect and gave a description of his car to Spring Lake Police. Spring Lake Police Patrolman Joseph Liddy identified the suspect and his car, which was broadcast to surrounding towns.
About one hour later, at 1:35 a.m., a Belmar Police Officer spotted the car on Rt. 35 in that town and tried to pull the car over. Once stopped on West Sylvania Avenue in Neptune City, the suspect refused officer’s commands and barricaded himself inside the vehicle.

After an almost two-hour standoff, the suspect was taken into custody by the Monmouth County Emergency Response Team (MOCERT) and placed under arrest by Ptl. Liddy.
Georgy R. Charles, 36, Jersey City, was charged with second-degree burglary of an occupied residence, trespassing and possession of burglars' tools.
