Surfside Frozen Custard Opens in Sea Girt

Surfside Frozen Custard recently opened on Washington Boulevard in Sea Girt. The frozen custard stand is open seven days per week, from 12pm-10pm on the weekends and 12-9pm during the workweek.  Several flavors of frozen custard are available and can be enjoyed with or without toppings in the outdoor sitting area featuring large shade trees and family-size benches that accompanies the walk-up stand.

Surfside makes its frozen custard fresh each morning to ensure the highest quality, best consistency frozen custard available in Monmouth County. As a dessert, frozen custard brings family and friends together to repeatedly enjoy special times. As a cool, creamy treat on a hot summer day, frozen custard simply can’t be beat.

Frozen custard is a passion for the three Earle brothers, co-founders of Surfside, T.J. Earle, Michael Earle and Walter Earle II.

“There is just something wonderful about enjoying a frozen custard on a hot summer day at the Jersey Shore,” said Michael Earle. “From our walk-up stand to our shaded, park-like sitting area, we want to deliver some cool summer fun and refreshment to residents and visitors during the hot summer along the coast.”

Frozen Custard was invented in 1919 in Coney Island, New York by the Kohr brothers. The now-famous brothers introduced it at The World’s Fair in 1933 where it gained popularity and spread throughout the Midwest. Today the Midwest is the custard capital of the world. Ten years ago, restaurateur Danny Meyer brought the custard concept back east to New York City at his Shake Shack restaurants where it has since been spreading in popularity.

Frozen custard is a premium frozen dessert. It is made using a small percentage of milk yolk in a method that creates a low overrun (low air), dense product that is incredibly smooth with little to no ice crystallization. Surfside’s frozen custard is made fresh daily to ensure that our customers enjoy the softer consistency for which true custard is famous.

Surfside Frozen Custard is located at 500 Washington Boulevard in Sea Girt, on the corner of Washington and 5th Avenue. Surfside offers a comfortable, shaded sitting area right next to its walk-up stand which is cash only. On-street parking is available.
