Manchester Woman Charged With Insurance Fraud

Authorities said woman tried to receive reimbursement money for repairs that were never made to her car

A Manchester woman was charged with insurance fraud after authorities said she tried to receive reimbursement money for repairs that were never made to her car, the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office announced Monday.

Porsche Daniels, 25, allegedly filed five or more fictitious, fraudulent or misleading statements to Geico in connection with an Oct. 20 insurance claim she filed seeking more than $1,000 for repairs that were not made, said prosecutor’s office spokesman Al Della Fave.

Authorities charge that Daniels filed a false claim with Geico, reporting that her 2011 Nissan Sentra was damaged when it struck a guardrail on the Garden State Parkway in Lakewood, Della Fave said.

Investigators assigned to substantiate the claim found that Daniels had filed the exact claim back on May 25, 2012 with Esurance Auto Insurance Company.

“The investigation ultimately found that Daniels made five or more fictitious, fraudulent or misleading statements of material fact to Geico in furtherance of the Oct. 20 claim and was seeking insurance benefits in excess of $1,000 for repairs that were never made,” Della Fave said.

Detectives James Conroy and Lindsay Llauget of the Ocean County Prosecutor's Special Investigations Unit arrested and charged Daniels at her workplace in Edison on Friday and charged her with second degree insurance fraud, which carries a possible 5 to 10 years in state prison, according to Della Fave.

She was released on $7,500 bail with no 10 percent option by Judge Rochelle Gizinski of the Ocean County Superior Court Criminal Division.
