Manchester police again are asking for the public’s help with identifying the man who attempted to carjack a pregnant woman last week.

Authorities are now asking that Holly Oaks residents come forward if they believe they saw a suspicious person in their neighborhood around 11 p.m. on Thursday, July 11, near the same time as the attempted carjacking.

Anyone who was the victim of a car burglary is also asked to call the police department at 732-657-6111.

A 23-year-old Toms River woman was stopped at the traffic light at Route 571 and Renaissance Boulevard at about 11 p.m. on July 11 when a man opened her driver side door and attacked her, police said.

“The detectives are following up some leads, but right now we don’t have a viable suspect,” said Sgt. James Sharkey Tuesday at Manchester police headquarters, a day after authorities released details of the incident.

Anyone who may have been in or near the area at that time and witnessed the incident or observed anyone walking in the 571/Renaissance Drive vicinity is also asked to call.

The suspect is described as a white male in his 20s to 30s, about 6 feet tall and 180 to 200 lbs. He is believed to have a tattoo on his right forearm, police said.

The would-be carjacker should be considered dangerous and residents are asked not approach or contact him. All information will be kept confidential, according to the department.
