Truck Driver From Manchester Killed In Ohio Crash

The semi-truck went off the road and down an embankment in the early morning crash, the Ohio Highway Patrol said.

WEST TOWNSHIP, OHIO — A Manchester Township man was killed early Wednesday when the semi-truck he was driving ran off the highway in Ohio and turned over, the Ohio State Highway Patrol said Thursday.

Robert J. Walters, 59, was driving east on U.S. Route 30 in West Township, Columbiana County, about 4:45 a.m. when the 2024 International semi-truck went off the road as he was negotiating a curve, Ohio state police said.

The truck went down a ditch embankment, coming to a rest on its roof, police said. Walters was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. There were no other vehicles involved in the crash.

West Township is about 30 minutes east of Canton, Ohio, and just under two hours west of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol said the crash remains under investigation.
