Is Your Home Suitable for Solar Power?

The Caldwell Environmental Commission and the Caldwell College Sustainability Committee, along with EcoMatters and Advanced Performance Solar, will offer a Solar Screening Event.

The free event will take place at Werner Hall on the Caldwell College campus on Monday, Oct. 15, from 7:30 to 9 p.m. 

Homeowners will learn about the benefits of solar energy and have the chance to be screened for a zero-cost solar installation that would provide them with discounted electricity.  

“We’re excited to host this event with Caldwell College and invite all members of the community to join us to see if their roof is suitable for solar,” stated Ann Marchioni, chairperson of Caldwell Environmental Commission, in a release. 

At the screening event, there will be monitors set up enabling interested homeowners to have their home screened via satellite photos to see if their roof appears to be suitable for solar.  

“It’s an easy, interesting way to learn about solar power,” stated Fred R. Profeta, Jr., president of EcoMatters. “Residential solar installations are an effective way for homeowners to save money over a long-term period and minimize their fossil fuel consumption. We're glad to bring these programs to New Jersey communities.”  

Profeta is a former mayor of Maplewood, a co-founder of the Sustainable Jersey municipal certification program, and winner of the Governor’s 2010 Environmental Leadership Award.

This offer is open to all New Jersey homeowners. For those who cannot be at the Screening Event, homeowners can register online to have their roof evaluated.
