Local Actor Will Co-star with Katie Holmes on Broadway

Tony-award winner Norbert Leo Butz will join Holmes on Great White Way this fall.

Maplewood resident and two-time Tony winner will star on Broadway this fall with actress Katie Holmes in "Dead Accounts," a new play by Theresa Rebeck.

Butz will play Holmes' "ne’er-do-well brother" as the siblings return to their childhood Ohio home, according to The New York Times theater blog. “Dead Accounts” will begin previews at the Music Box Theater on Nov. 3 and is scheduled to open on Nov. 28.

Most recently seen in the revival of "How I Learned to Drive," Butz garnered Tony awards for leading roles in “Catch Me If You Can” and “Dirty Rotten Scoundrels.”

Recently, The New York Times's music critic Stephen Holden gave Butz a rave review for his cabaret show at 54 Below in New York, calling his performance "remarkable" and writing that Butz has "the soul of a poet and a bluesman on the same wavelength as Van Morrison and Tom Waits..."
