Should Halloween be Cancelled?

It's the question every little witch, vampire and ghost is asking. Will Halloween be cancelled Wednesday?

Mother Nature has created a horror show for the second year in a row in the tri-state area. In 2011, a freak Nor'easter before Halloween devastated the region, causing widespread power outages and leaving power lines and trees strewn over most roads.

The day after Sandy, things are looking even worse, with many local officials saying while the snow last year knocked down branches, Monday's storm has brought down more whole trees.

Maplewood has postponed the annual Halloween Day Parade and Costume Contest to Friday, Nov. 2. Mayor Vic DeLuca has asked that parents not send their children trick-or-treating on Wednesday.

North Caldwell Police Chief Mark Deuer said Tuesday afternoon he does not recommend going door-to-door.

"I strongly suggest not to send kids trick-or-treating because of the downed power lines and trees," Deuer said.

West Orange Mayor Robert Parisi said Tuesday he was waiting to get guidance from the governor, who was expected to make an official call late in the day. 

Millburn has postponed Halloween festivities until further notice.
