2 Seriously Injured In Wrong-Way Crash In Marlboro On Thanksgiving

Both drivers were taken to a trauma center after the Route 9 crash early Thursday, Marlboro Police said.

MARLBORO, NJ — Two people were seriously injured in a motor vehicle crash on Route 9 Thursday morning, Marlboro Police Captain Stephen Levy said.

The crash occurred at 5:07 a.m. on Route 9 North between Union Hill Road and Route 520, according to Levy.

A Chevy Equinox, driven by a 77-year-old woman from Staten Island, New York, was traveling south in the northbound lane of Route 9 when police said it crashed head-on into a Subaru Impreza, driven by a 28-year-old woman from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Both drivers sustained serious internal injuries and were brought to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick for treatment, Levy said.

There were no passengers in either vehicle, according to police, and the road was closed from the time of the crash until 11 a.m.

No drugs or alcohol were contributing factors in the cause of the crash, Levy said.
