560 Without Power In Marlboro After Car Hits Pole

MARLBORO, NJ — A car crashed into a telephone pole on Tennent Road between Harbor and Wooleytown in Marlboro, prompting power outages and closing that stretch of the road.

The accident happened on Tuesday at around 4:20 p.m. and left about 560 customers in Morganville without power, according to the Township of Marlboro.

A 2022 white Lexus left the roadway for an unknown reason and crashed into the pole, police said

The driver was a 77-year-old man from Freehold Township. He was checked out at the scene by members of the Marlboro First Aid Squad but was not taken to the hospital.

Morganville Fire Department responded to the scene as well.

Tennent Road was closed between Harbor Road and Wooleytown Road and remains shut until JCP&L can make the repairs.

The crash is being investigated by Ptlm. Ryan Stapleton of the Marlboro Township Police Department.

The Marlboro Township issued a warning on Wednesday morning advising drivers to use extra caution because of icy conditions.
