74-Year-Old Bicyclist Dies Of Injuries From Marlboro Hit-And-Run

The man was flown to Jersey Shore University Medical Center for treatment but later succumbed to his injuries, prosecutors said.

MARLBORO, NJ — The 74-year-old bicyclist hit by a vehicle in Marlboro has died, Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond Santiago announced on Thursday.

Marlboro Police first received calls of someone being hit by a vehicle at 9:45 a.m. on Monday, Marlboro Police Captain Stephen Levy said.

The victim — whose identity has not been released — was crossing School Road East from the Henry Hudson Trail on an electric bicycle when he was hit Monday at about 9:45 a.m., prosecutors said.

The vehicle fled the scene before police arrived, Marlboro Police Capt. Stephen Levy said. The driver has not yet been identified.

The bicyclist was flown to Jersey Shore University Medical Center for treatment, but died on Tuesday, according to Santiago.

The Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office and Marlboro Township Police Department are currently investigating what caused the collision.
