Route 9 South In Marlboro Reopened After Friday Night Accident

Police said a serious motor vehicle accident on Route 9 south in Marlboro closed the highway from Union Hill Road to Texas Road.

MARLBORO, NJ — Route 9 south was closed last night between Union Hill Road and Texas Road in Marlboro as authorities investigated a motor vehicle crash.

The police advisory was posted at about 7 p.m. Friday. The road was reopened later in the evening on Friday, police said.

No other information on the accident was available Friday night.

However, a Manalapan resident, commissioned to take photos of a car show in the area with his drone, provided some information to Patch earlier Friday night when the accident happened.

Jaden West, a high school student and student pilot, said he had his drone with him for the car show and used it to photograph traffic backed up in the area. He said traffic was slowed up to Route 516, north of the area.

He said commuter buses leaving the city were being diverted through Englishtown.

He said it appeared that a pole was struck, perhaps around 5:45 p.m. He said an Atlantic Health ambulance appeared to be going north, possibly toward RWJ Barnabas hospital.
