Monmouth County To Host Summer Group Wedding Ceremony

Looking to get married this summer? You can apply to participate in a group wedding officiated by the Monmouth County Clerk in June.

COLTS NECK, NJ — Calling all engaged couples! Monmouth County Clerk Christine Hanlon is inviting couples looking to get married to participate in the Monmouth County Clerk’s Office’s next group wedding event.

The free ceremony is scheduled to take place on June 26 at the Clubhouse at Hominy Hill Golf Course in Colts Neck.

The group wedding (sometimes referred to as a collective wedding) is a matrimonial ceremony where more than one couple gets married during a single ceremony.

Each couple is responsible for obtaining their own marriage license in advance, which is then signed by the officiant on the wedding day.

At the ceremony, officials said each couple may bring up to four guests, and the ceremony itself will be livestreamed so additional family members and friends can view the event online.

The event, which does not include a reception, is free for all participants, officials said.

In her role as County Clerk, Hanlon is able to perform wedding ceremonies and regularly performs them at the Monmouth County Clerk’s Freehold office. In June 2024, Hanlon performed the office’s first group wedding event.

“We held our first group wedding last June, and it was so well-received that we held a Valentine’s Day event as well,” Hanlon said. “I am happy my office can provide this affordable options to our residents.”

Hominy Hill Clubhouse is located on the grounds of Hominy Hill Golf Course and is part of the Monmouth County Parks System. The venue frequently hosts weddings with a capacity of 120 people.
