Attempted Home Burglaries Lead To 4 Arrests In Marlboro: Police

An 18-year-old and three juveniles were arrested and charged with second-degree attempted burglary to a residence, police said.

MARLBORO, NJ — Four people have been arrested and charged with attempted burglary to a residence following incidents throughout Marlboro on Sunday, Marlboro Police Captain Stephen Levy said.

At 12:05 a.m. on Sunday, Marlboro Police said they received a 911 call from a Witherspoon Way homeowner who reported that people he did not know were walking up his back patio and had tried to open his rear sliding glass door.

After the homeowner yelled out, police said the people fled to the front of the house and left the area in a black sedan.

Once officers arrived at the Witherspoon Way home, Marlboro Police received another 911 call from a Whipple Way homeowner, who reported that people they did not know were trying to enter their basement, but fled when they were unsuccessful in doing so.

As officers were en route to Whipple Way, they spotted a vehicle on School Road East that matched the description the Witherspoon Way homeowner provided.

Following a motor vehicle stop and thorough investigation, Levy said the vehicle’s four occupants (an 18-year-old and three juveniles) were arrested and charged with second-degree attempted burglary to a residence.

The 18-year-old, identified as Kazi Baker, of Newark, was processed at police headquarters and brought to the Monmouth County Correctional Institute in Freehold.

The juveniles, a 17-year-old from Newark, a 17-year-old from Plainfield, and a 16-year-old from Newark, were all processed and released into the custody of their parents.

The incident remains under investigation with the Marlboro Township Police Department, Levy said.
