Colts Neck High School Senior Earns Congressional Award Gold Medal

COLTS NECK, NJ — Blake Robinovitz, a senior from Colts Neck High School, was recently honored for earning a Congressional Award Gold Medal, the Freehold Regional High School District said.

Established in 1979, the Congressional Award aims to recognize, encourage, and inspire America’s youth, and encourages young people to challenge themselves.

Over the years, Congress has acknowledged thousands of outstanding young Americans like Blake through this award, which honors their efforts and achievements.

To earn the Gold Medal like Blake did, participants must:

  • Complete at least 400 hours of voluntary public service, which involves giving their time and skills for the betterment of the community
  • Engage in 200 hours of personal development, focusing on social and life skills as well as personal interests
  • Complete 200 hours of physical fitness, which includes activities that promote health and well-being

In addition to these requirements, participants must also spend at least five days and four nights exploring a new environment or culture. Achieving the award requires consistent effort over a minimum of 24 months.

To earn the Gold Medal, Blake’s weekly commitments included volunteering at the local farmers’ market, helping with park clean-ups at his township recreation center, and distributing food to those in need.

In addition to his commitments, Blake is also a cadet in Colts Neck High School’s Navy Junior ROTC Magnet Program.
