Colts Neck Looks to Curb Cell Towers

The ordinance would allow the township more control over the placement of cell towers.

A new ordinance in Colts Neck would limit the amount of cell towers in the township, according to The News Transcript.

Colts Neck is looking to require area studies from applicants, including the availability of antennae space on existing towers and availability in surrounding towns. The ordinance would also limite existing and proposed towers to 150 feet, according to The News Transcript.

Verizon Wireless currently has a cell tower at Colts Neck High School after the township lost a long legal battle to stop it.

The ordinance, which will be heard on July 10 at 7:30 p.m., is designed to give the Zoning Board more control over tower placement, according to The News Transcript.

The Holmdel Planning Board is currently considering a proposal from Verizon Wireless to place a tower on Bayonet Farm, and is battling with the company of the height of the faux tree tower.
