Diwali Celebration By Marlboro Indian Foundation Coming Soon
On Nov. 4, the Marlboro Indian Foundation's Diwali event will bring the community together; guests, sponsors can sign up now to attend.
MARLBORO, NJ — The Marlboro Indian Foundation is looking forward to bringing the community together for its 2023 Diwali Milan event Nov. 4.
The event celebrates the Indian Diwali festival of lights, marking the victory of light over darkness, good over evil and knowledge over ignorance.
Diwali Committee member Anupal Patil says the holiday is also a way to connect the community.

"The entire Marlboro community can attend," Patil said. Marlboro Mayor Jonathan Hornik and Council President Juned Qazi are the chief guests.
Patil is encouraging both guests and sponsors to attend the event.

They can expect vibrant colors, delicious food and joyous festivities, including fireworks, he said.
The event is Nov. 4, beginning at 5 p.m., and will be held in Colts Neck at the Colts Neck Fire Company #2, 50 Conover Road, Colts Neck, 07722.

Anyone who wishes to be a sponsor should contact Patil at 609-455-9458. The cost is $250 for a digital display flyer; exclusive table for a business is $1,500 ; a table is $1,000.
Individual tickets are $50 per person with drinks; $40 per person without drinks; $25 for kids ages 5 to 16 years.
Food, entertainment, fireworks planned
There will be a wide array of Indian cuisine, including traditional dishes and sweets.
You can enjoy cultural performances, including dances and music that "will transport you to the heart of India," organizers say.
Also, there will be traditional Diwali rituals, such as the lighting of diyas - the clay lamps- and the exchange of heartfelt greetings. The official date of Diwali for 2023 is Nov. 12.
Regarding fireworks, the event will have a dedicated fireworks area and will be distributing certain fireworks to kids. Fireworks are allowed until 7:30 p.m. No outside fireworks are allowed.
A DJ and dance floor will be open from 6 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. Alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks will be served from 5 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. Appetizers will be served from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and dinner will be served from 9 p.m. to 11:30 p.m.
Work of the Marlboro Indian Foundation
The Marlboro Indian Foundation is a local nonprofit service organization that was established in 2020.
Its goal is focused on service and building a society "where an atmosphere of love, peace, harmony, and support for each other, togetherness and giving back is fostered to grow a healthy, prosperous, and strong community," its website says.
The foundation also conducts educational, sport, fitness, spiritual and recreational programs for the community within its nonprofit scope.
