Why are you seeking reelection?
I am seeking reelection as our team has developed important initiatives that benefit from having the most qualified individuals serving on Council. We are committed to fiscal responsibility, maintaining safety for all, and preserving the character of our town. We have a track record that shows why we should be reelected. We are motivated to build upon the tremendous progress that has been made during our time in office. Our track record confirms that we are the team to continue moving Marlboro in the right direction.
Why should you be elected over other candidates?
Our team is unique in that we are integrally connected to the community. Since moving to Marlboro at the age of two, I have only lived outside of town for schooling and medical training. My mother has lived in my childhood home for over 50 years. My sister and her family are neighbors in town. My running mates Carol Mazzola and Jeff Cantor both have incredible ties to our community. You just don’t hear anything about our opponents’ involvement in town.
What is the most important issue facing the Marlboro community and what are you planning to do about it?
Taxes, safety and smart growth are three of the most important issues. With regards to running the township in a responsible way, both S&P and Moody’s have assigned Marlboro their highest municipal bond rating which indicates that our policies are working. With regards to safety, our team have remarkably strong ties to our first responders and we continue to make these relationships a priority. The effects of our smart growth policy can be seen by the quality businesses that have moved in to town in the appropriate locations. This is balanced by the commitment our administration has to open space. Under our watch over 250 acres have been preserved.
What are other important issues you are running on?
We are running on a platform that is committed to maintaining the high quality of life that is enjoyed in Marlboro. The reason that residents move here is because our town has a reputation for being an excellent community that has just the right balance. We are a community is appealing to all demographics.
What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?
Some of the more recognizable accomplishments are the preservation of open space throughout town, including the site that now houses our Farmer’s Market. This is a sharp contrast to those that we have run against who had planned to put high density housing right on that very spot. I am incredibly proud of our AAA bond rating from the two agencies. This is the best form of evidence of our accomplishments as it an objective measure. This carries even more weight as it comes from a third party. This exemplary rating is only awarded to six out of nearly 600 municipalities in our state.
Is there anything else would you like voters to know about yourself and your positions?
Our connection with the teens in our town is remarkably strong. We are avid supporters of the Teen Advisory Committee which provides an excellent avenue for students to develop connections to their hometown and in the process develop leadership skills. The success of the program is evidenced by the fact that over 2000 teens have participated in this township run program since inception during our administration. Furthermore, our teens have been asked to help other towns develop similar programs in outside municipalities.
