Employee At Colts Neck Manufacturer Embezzled $750K: Prosecutor

The 45-year-old man worked as an accountant at a Colts Neck-based musical instrument manufacturer, Monmouth County Prosecutor said.

SHREWSBURY, NJ — A Shrewsbury man was accused of embezzling over $750,000 from the Colts Neck-based company he used to work for as an accountant, according to Acting Monmouth County Prosecutor Lori Linskey.

Mark S. Bloom, 45, is charged with second-degree theft by unlawful taking.

An investigation into the company revealed that sometime in early 2020, Bloom had created a new personal PayPal account and began transferring funds into it from the company’s American Express business account and its PayPal business account, the prosecutor said.

Bloom spent much of the money he embezzled on online gambling, Linskey also said.

The investigation was a joint effort between the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office and the Colts Neck Police Department and led to a financial analysis of the company in question, D’Angelico Guitars of America, a musical instrument manufacturer headquartered on Route 537.
