Local Memorial Day Observances
There are many ways to honor fallen soldiers this weekend

Sunday, May 27
Marlboro Township will celebrate the lives of those who sacrificed for our country at the Marlboro Memorial Day Parade on Sunday at 2 p.m. The parade will start at the intersection of School Road West and route 79 at and will continue along School Road West and end at the Marlboro Municipal Complex.

The street will be closed to all motorists until 4 p.m. while Marlboro residents honor America’s fallen.

The parade will begin at 10:30 a.m., up Heyers Mill Road from to the Memorial Cemetery and grave site of Pvt. Michael Field, Revolutionary Way Soldier. The parade will feature public officials, fire and police departments, local organizations, classic cars, and of course each veteran will receive an appreciation.
A free picnic will be held at Colts Neck Fire house #2 on Conover Road following the parade.
Bicycle Decorating Contest: The contest will begin before the parade at 10 a.m. at the First Aid building on Heritage Drive. Trophies awarded for most patriotic, best decorated, most original.
The New Jersey Vietnam Veterans' Memorial Foundation will hold its Memorial Day ceremony on May 28 at 11 a.m. at the New Jersey Vietnam Veterans' Memorial in Holmdel. The guest speaker at this year's ceremony will be Major General William D. Razz Waff. The ceremony will also include the presentation of two scholarships to New Jersey high school seniors and the induction of five Vietnam Veterans into the Memorial's "In Memory" Program.
National Moment of Remembrance
Pause to honor Americans who have died in all wars at 3 p.m. local time. The National Moment of Remembrance was established by Congress in 2000. The Moment is an act of national unity for a duration of one minute and it is observed at Major League Baseball games and Nascar events, among many others venues.
