Andrey V. Penkin, 51, abused the girl for more than 6 years, the prosecutor's office said.

MARLBORO, NJ — A local man has been convicted of committing sexual and physical abuse against a child for more than six years, Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond Santiago announced Wednesday.

Andrey V. Penkin, 51, of Marlboro, was found guilty of two counts of first-degree aggravated sexual assault, second-degree aggravated sexual assault, and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child, prosecutors said.

Penkin began abusing the girl in 2016 when he lived in Sayreville (Middlesex County), according to an investigation by the Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Bureau and Marlboro Police.

In early 2023, Penkin physically assaulted the girl, prosecutors said, resulting in a severe concussion and related facial injuries.

Penkin was arrested in April 2023. At the trial, the state presented medical records, witness testimony, and physical evidence — including the victim’s diary — to prove its case.

The jury deliberated for 80 minutes before returning guilty verdicts, Santiago said.

Penkin’s sentencing date has not been set. He will face a minimum of 25 years in state prison with no eligibility for parole.
