Marlboro and Colts Neck Students Qualify for GeoBee State Competition

These three students qualified with only 100 other students statewide.

Getting to the National GeoBee is no easy feat. But Chris De Carolis, 8th grader at , Tarung Bhimnathwala, 8th grader at and Owen Zhang at managed to accomplish greatness to represent their schools at the National Geographic Bee this month.

Students first competed at the school level against their classmates, answering questions like, "Which of the following cities has the least average annual rainfall? Sydney, Belize City or Kabul?"

Then the local champions had to take a standardized test to qualify for the state competition. Only the top 100 scores were accepted.

The state competition will take place on Mar. 30 at Rowan University. The national competition will take place at the end of May.
