Marlboro Driver Hits Man On Rt. 9 In Old Bridge

The pedestrian tried to run across Route 9 without using the crosswalk, police said.

MARLBORO, NJ — A Marlboro resident hit a 69-year-old man who was trying to cross Route 9 on Thursday afternoon, according to the Old Bridge Township Police Department.

The incident happened at around 4:56 p.m.

The pedestrian tried to run across Route 9 without using the crosswalk, police said.

He was hit by a BMW traveling southbound. The driver swerved to avoid the pedestrian but was unable to, striking him on the driver's side of the car.

The pedestrian appeared to have a broken left leg, police said. The Old Bridge resident was transported to Robert Wood Johnson Hospital for treatment.

The driver stopped to report the accident.
