Marlboro Township's Brave K-9 Dog Aldo Dies

Aldo had been on the force with his handler since 2003.

Marlboro Township lost a brave member of its police force on Saturday.

K-9 dog Aldo has died after a long battle with Degenerative Myelopathy. His handler was Ptlm. Javier Garguillo. Also retired in February because of his disease.

Last year, the force lost Vaik to Degenerative Myelopathy, a nerve  disorder that has caused him to lose feeling first in his back legs and then progressively up the body.

Aldo and Garguillo had been together since 2003, and after many weeks of training, Aldo joined the force and successfully completed hundreds of narcotics searches, burglary suspect searches and missing persons searches.

"In 2004 Ptlm Garguillo and K9 Aldo became members of the Monmouth County Swat Team MOCERT. While attached to MOCERT K9 Aldo worked three Presidential Details for both Presidents Bush and Obama," a department release said.
