Morganville Woman, 19, Killed Man While Driving High: Prosecutor
Amy Amkhanitsky, 19, was sentenced to four years in prison, according to the Middlesex Prosecutor's Office.
MARLBORO, NJ — A 19-year-old Morganville woman has been sentenced to four years in prison for killing a pedestrian while high on marijuana in February 2020.
Amy Amkhanitsky, was sentenced on Aug. 4 on one count of third-degree strict liability vehicular homicide. She was also sentenced for driving while intoxicated.
The incident happened on Route 34 at around 7:30 p.m. Amkhanitsky fatally struck 69-year-old Richard Lockwood III, of Old Bridge, as he was trying to use the crosswalk, an investigation by authorities concluded.

Lockwood sustained serious blunt force trauma and was taken to a local hospital and pronounced dead later that evening.
Authorities also found that Amkhanitsky was under the influence of marijuana.

Although she was initially charged as a juvenile, Amkhanitsky was ultimately waived to the criminal part of the Superior Court, where she was prosecuted as an adult.
