Opening Day Set For New Jersey Freeze Location: See When

COLTS NECK, NJ — An opening day has been set for the newest Jersey Freeze location in Colts Neck, the restaurant announced Thursday.

On Tuesday, Aug. 19, and Wednesday, Aug. 20, the new Jersey Freeze will open its doors to customers and offer free soft serve sprinkle cones from 6-9 p.m., officials said.

This is the third Jersey Freeze location in New Jersey, with the original restaurant open in Freehold and a second location at Bell Works in Holmdel.

“Tell your friends. Tag your crew. Share it everywhere,” officials said in their store opening announcement. “Let’s make this the soft opening heard ‘round New Jersey.”

Founded in 1952 by the Blackmore family, Jersey Freeze was mainly known for its ice cream before it became a go-to spot for both ice cream and fast food in the 1970s, according to their website.

Today, the shop is owned by Katie DiNonno and Matt Cangialosi, who purchased Jersey Freeze from Bruce Blackmore in 2014 after he decided to retire.

DiNonno began working at Jersey Freeze as a teen in high school before she became a manager in the 1990s, and then went on to buy the restaurant with Cangialosi.

In March 2020, the pair opened their second location at Bell Works in Holmdel, and are now opening their third location in Colts Neck.

In late July, the restaurant announced that they’re also hiring to build a team at new the Colts Neck location. Those 16 years old or older and ready to work year-round (including weekends and evenings) are encouraged to apply.
