Pair Charged With Shoplifting from Kohls in Marlboro

A Philadelphia couple allegedly tried to take $1,671 in electronic tablets, clothes and more.

A man and a woman from Philadelphia were charged with Shoplifting after they allegedly tried to steal merchandise from Kohl’s in Marlboro on Thursday, Jan. 2.

According to the Monmouth county Prosecutor’s Office, Tyreek D. Upshar, 25, and Charlene McClorkle, 43, were charged after they allegedly took a coat, a set of headphones, and seven electronic tablets by removing the tags and security devices without making a payment.

The total value of the items is $1,671.

After being charged, police discovered that Upshar had been charged with Aggravated Assault, Conspiracy and Simple Assault in Pennsylvania. During the investigation,  both lied about who they are, with Upshar presenting himself to police as “Corey Smith,” according to the prosecutor’s office.

Bail was set for Upshar at $5,000. Bail for McClorkle was set at $6,000.
