Shop Marlboro Property Tax Relief Featured on CBS Local News
Mayor Jon Hornik was interviewed by WCBS 880′s Wayne Cabot.

Marlboro Township's property tax relief program is spreading. According to WCBS, Bayonne may be the next to hop on board.
The township was the first in the country to offer a rewards program through property taxes by shopping within Marlboro borders. The idea, according to Mayor Jon Hornik, is to reward residents for staying local and generate repeat business and volume for business in town.
“[Let's say you had] a $100 bill with 10 percent going towards your property taxes. You’ll go in, you’ll pay your bill, you’ll pay the $100 and the retailer or the service provider will automatically put on your credit card the $10 that gets picked up by the township and gets applied to your tax bill,” Hornik told WCBS.

Residents can sign up for the program and receive a rewards card, which is presented when shopping at one of 38 participating businesses in town.
Hornik told WCBS he's already saved $250 on his property tax bill through the program.
