Should The State Pay the County for Special Elections?

Everything you need to know in Marlboro and Colts Neck today.

Breathe a sigh of relief, everyone. Happy Friday!

There will be tons to do this weekend in Monmouth County. Patch has a Weekend Planner for just such occasions. Locally, you can visit the Bark and Meow softball benefit in Aberdeen. Look for our Regional Editor Jacklyn Corley volunteering behind the scenes.

Question of the day: Yesterday, Patch reported the state will be reimbursing the county for special elections this year. The special elections will cost approximately $1,850,000, which is the amount the county expects to receive.
Do you think the state should pay when a special election is called by the governor? Or is it the county's duty to hold elections no matter what?

To all our Patch readers: enjoy your weekends! And keep checking Patch, we'll have a wrap-up of news from this week in Marlboro and Colts NeckMonmouth County and all of New Jersey.
