Tennent Road Fire Injures 4 In Marlboro On Sunday Night

A man had to be rescued from a bedroom on the second floor and two officers and one firefighter were injured.

MARLBORO, NJ — A fire broke out in a Marlboro home on Tennent Road on Sunday night, according to the Marlboro Township Police Department.

A man had to be rescued from a bedroom on the second floor and two officers and one firefighter were injured.

Officers first responded to a report of smoke coming from the attic at 11:38 p.m. and met homeowners along with several family members outside of the home.

The family believed that everyone was out of the house, but authorities quickly learned that there might still be a family member inside. Two officers went in and found a man in a bedroom filled with smoke, police said.

Officers helped the man out of the house. The three suffered smoke inhalation and were treated at the scene by members of the Morganville First Aid Squad, but did not have to go to a hospital.

Firefighters then arrived and were able to put out the fire. One firefighter was transported by ambulance to Raritan Bay Medical Center in Old Bridge for smoke inhalation.

Tennent Road was closed between Church Road and Duncan Drive for about three hours while emergency personnel was on the scene. The cause of the fire is still under investigation but does not appear to be suspicious.
