ABERDEEN, NJ — Aberdeen Township has so many fun events planned this October for children, teens and families to celebrate the great holiday of Halloween.
In Aberdeen Township, they don't just wait for trick or treating on Oct. 31. Halloween is celebrated the entire month of October, with lots of fun — and free! — events. Here's what's planned:
Halloween House Contest: First, there's the annual Aberdeen Twp. Halloween house decorating contest. Residents must register online in order to participate. You must live in Aberdeen Township (Strathmore, Freneau, Cliffwood & Cliffwood Beach). To register, send in a photo or video of your home with your street address to brittany.shea@aberdeennj.org

Your entry will be uploaded on October 21 to the Aberdeen Rec Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/AberdeenTwpRec) with your address listed so the public can go see each home and then vote on who has the best house! (Unless you request that your address not be included.)
Entries that feature political statements, offensive language, sexist imagery or anything else deemed objectionable by the contest administrators will be disqualified and not displayed on the Facebook post.

Beginning Oct. 21, all Aberdeen residents are invited to go to https://www.facebook.com/AberdeenTwpRec, look at all the entries and vote for their favorite house by “liking” their favorite. Voting ends October 30 at noon.The entry that receives the most “likes” will be declared the winner!
First place prize: $150 Visa gift card and an introducing the new awesome SKULL trophy
2nd place: $100 Visa gift card
3rd place: $75 Visa gift card
Winners will be announced on Friday, November 1.
Trunk or treat Oct. 19: Then there's the Aberdeen Police PBA annual Trunk or Treat on Oct. 19. The Aberdeen Police PBA say they are actually in need of more cars to sign up to give out candy. (Many people lately are preferring to move back to traditional trick or treating instead of town-sanctioned trunk or treats.

Family Halloween Costume Party Oct. 25 at 6:30 p.m. Daddy/Daughter + Mother/Son = Family Fun.
Dress up in your costume and come have some family fun with us in Aberdeen's first family Halloween dance party. Following the same format as our dances a DJ, light fare, costume contests and really cool decorations will be provided. It's sure to be a spooky but fun time.
Family Pumpkin Carving:
Oct. 26 For older teens and adults 6:30 - 9 p.m.
Oct. 27 from 12 noon - 3 p.m. For families and young children
Need a creativity boost? Come carve with us! Bring your friends or significant other for a ghoul of a time as you carve or paint a pumpkin! Take a picture in Aberdeen's own pumpkin patch, pick your pumpkin, and then get to work while listening to Halloween-themed music. Aberdeen Township supplies everything. Go home with a finished masterpiece and leave the mess with us!
