Aberdeen Teen Arrested For Alleged Purse-Snatching Incident

The teen allegedly snatched an 82-year-old woman's purse while she was at ShopRite

A 15-year-old Aberdeen Township boy was arrested after he allegedly snatched a purse from an 82-year-old woman at .

Aberdeen Township Police say that shortly before 4:15 p.m. on April 19, the teenager took a purse from the shopping cart of a woman in the parking lot of the grocery store and then fled on foot. 

P.O. Matthew Lloyd observed two youths running in the area of Lloyd Road and Ithaca shortly after the incident, according to Chief of Police John Powers. When Officer Lloyd approached them, one of the youths who fit the description of the suspect ran from him. Officer Lloyd was able to catch the teen and after a brief struggle, take him into custody, Powers said.

A witness was able to identify the teen as the one who took the purse. The purse was recovered with all of its contents, Powers said. The woman was not hurt during the incident.

The teen was processed on juvenile complaints with theft and resisting arrest. He was later released to a parent.
