Obituary: George F. Smith, 82, of Matawan

George F. Smith, 82, of Matawan, passed away, Saturday, November 10, 2012, at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. He was born in Matawan and a lifelong resident of Matawan. George was in the US Army during the Korean War and was stationed in Germany. He was a operator for Bendix Industries, Eatontown, and he also worked for National Lead.  George loved spending his time outdoors; and hunting was his passion.

George was predeceased by his parents, John and Mariola Smith; his beloved wife, Edith, and his brothers, Jack and Harry Smith.  He is survived by his daughter, Linda LaFragola and husband, Michael of Phoenix, AZ; two sons, George Jr. and wife, Wendy of Belford and Gary and wife, Kris of Jackson; a sister, Norma of MD and a brother, Roy of PA; 12 cherished grandchildren, Gregory, Andrew, Brian, Danielle, David, George III, Alicia May, Dillon, Doug, Shawn, Shannon and Kevin, and four great grandchildren Jonathon, Christopher, Matthew, and Alyssa Marie.

Family and friends are invited, Wednesday, November 14, 2012, from 5-9PM, at Day Funeral Home 361 Maple Place, Keyport, NJ 07735. Funeral services will be held Thursday, November 15, 2012, 10AM at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Shoreland Memorial Gardens, Hazlet.
