Obituary: Richard H. Diercks, 81, of Matawan

Richard H. Diercks, 81, of Matawan, passed away, Tuesday, October 16, 2012, at Care One, Holmdel.  He was born in Rockaway Beach, NY; and moved to Matawan 44 years ago.  He worked as a printer with Interstate Printing, Plainfield, before working as a custodian with the Matawan-Aberdeen School District.  Richard served his country in the Marines during the Korean War.  He served with the Union Beach First-Aid Squad for 18 years; enjoyed the Giants and the Mets; and was very into the Military.

Richard was predeceased by his brother, Freddie Diercks; a daughter, Eileen Margaret Diercks-Ellsworth; and a grandson, Edward Ellsworth, III.   He is survived by his beloved wife, Margaret Grimes Diercks; two loving daughters, Maureen Giugliano and husband, Barry of Matawan; and Kathleen D’Ambrisi and husband, Phillip of Marlboro; two cherished grandchildren, Kellie Ann Nunez and husband, Julio of Aberdeen; Heather Lynn Giugliano of Matawan; and two great grandchildren, Aiden Connor and Gabriella Lucia Nunez, both of Aberdeen.  He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Family and friends are invited Sunday, October 21, 2012, 2-4 & 7-9PM at Day Funeral Home, 361 Maple Place, Keyport, NJ  07735; and Monday, October 22, 2012, 10:45AM at the funeral home, with an 11:15AM service at the funeral home.  Interment will follow after the service at the Brig. General W. C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown, NJ.
