Union Beach Woman Drowned; Funds Now Raised For Her Family

UNION BEACH, NJ — A GoFundMe has now been launched for the surviving daughter and grandchildren of a Union Beach woman who died last week, when she fell off a boat in Raritan Bay and drowned.

The woman was identified by State Police as Susan Mikson, 65, of Union Beach. She fell off a boat sometime around 11 p.m. last Wednesday in Raritan Bay, prompting an immediate and extensive search of Raritan Bay, Sandy Hook and New York harbor.

The Coast Guard even brought in a helicopter from Cape Cod to search the waters.

Mikson's body was found at around 7 a.m. the next morning, Sept. 22, near the shoreline in Staten Island.

She is survived by her daughter and two grandchildren, according to this GoFundMe.

"Sue’s biggest joy in life was spending time with her best friend/daughter and her two grandchildren," read the page. "All of the funds will be directly going to (her daughter) and her children to help navigate the costs that come with losing a loved one and helping in these extremely difficult times."

Funeral services for Mikson have not been made public. She was well known in the close-knit community of tiny Union Beach.
