Matawan-Aberdeen High Softball Fields Named For Coach Faye Irons

She started coaching MARSD softball in 1970, and rose to become the high school's coach with the most victories at the varsity level:

MATAWAN, NJ — On April 22, the Matawan-Aberdeen Regional School District (MARSD) will rename the high school softball field in recognition of Coach Faye Irons.

The dedication and field naming will take place at Matawan High School at 3 p.m. on April 22.

Coach Irons founded and was the original coach of the Matawan-Aberdeen Regional softball program beginning in 1970. She coached three generations of softball players at Matawan Regional High School, from 1970- 2006.

Her teams have captured championships and she has been recognized as the MARSD coach with the most victories at the varsity level.

Next Monday's dedication ceremony will recognize the hard work and passion of Irons for the sport of softball and her dedication to the young women of Matawan-Aberdeen. The field dedication will be attended by students, teachers, alumni, parents and other community members who all contributed to the development and growth of the Matawan Regional High School softball program.
