The next day, Nov. 3, the Marching Huskies will head to the national competition in Allentown, PA where they hope to continue their winning streak.
The Marching Huskies won with a show called "Human Connection," which has received attention for its musical themes and recurring movements that reveal a unique story. Marching band director Noel Beers started writing this show a year ago.
Beers is a 2019 MRHS graduate, and all but two of the marching band staff are also MARSD alumni.
“I am incredibly proud of these students,” Beers said. “They have been working extraordinarily hard and pushing themselves every day. The dedicated staff also has brought years of experience and understands what it means to perform, march, and teach. They truly deserved a state championship!”
“We are so proud of the Marching Huskies,” said Matawan Regional High School principal Michael Wells. “We are grateful for the time, commitment and dedication of our staff, students and their extremely supportive parents for all their efforts and for representing the entire Matawan-Aberdeen Regional School District with pride!”
