Temple Beth Ahm and Temple Beth Shalom Launch MAKOM
A New Inclusive Jewish Youth Group for Kids 8-12

Monmouth County, NJ — November 20, 2024 — A new era of connection and community is here for Jewish youth in our area! Temple Beth Ahm and Temple Beth Shalom are thrilled to announce the launch of MAKOM, a Jewish youth group designed to be a welcoming space for children ages 8-12.
MAKOM, meaning “place” in Hebrew, is more than just a name; it’s a promise. This youth group aims to create an inclusive and accepting environment where all Jewish children, regardless of synagogue affiliation, can come together to build friendships, explore Jewish culture in exciting ways, and make a difference through social action projects.
We envisioned MAKOM as a place where every child feels like they belong. Our programs are open to all Jewish families, require no synagogue membership, no prior Jewish education, and focus on fostering meaningful connections while celebrating our shared heritage.
Activities at MAKOM will range from interactive social opportunities, holiday celebrations, games, and hands-on tikkun olam (social action) projects. By combining fun, learning, and service, the group ensures that every child feels engaged and empowered to embrace their Jewish identity and values.
We believe that MAKOM will strengthen not only the children involved but also the broader community. We’re excited to partner on this important initiative and offer a space where young people can grow together.
