Parents of Special People, Inc. will host the SPAN Statewide Parent Advocacy Network presenting Health Advocacy. This workshop will focus on accessing health coverage and services for children with special health care needs. Topics covered will include an introduction to the various health insurance models, who is eligible and how to apply; mental health services and the child behavioral health system; advocacy in the managed care environment; health support services; consumer laws–COBRA, HIPAA, ERISA, FMLA; and adult systems of care.

Parents of Special People, Inc. will host Hillary Freeman, Esq., of Freeman Law Offices, LLC for a lecture titled "Preparing Your Child for Life Beyond High School." This workshop is designed to help parents of children with disabilities understand the process of transition to post-school life - in college or in the workplace. It will include the responsibilities of your local school districts and state agencies in facilitating a smooth transition into adulthood, as well as goals for transition, people and organizations to work with and suggested timelines for each step.
Darryn Silver Murdoch, a Reverse Mortgage Consultant with Reverse Mortgage Network, will present this free and informative seminar. Learn how a reverse mortgage could enhance your quality of life if you are 62 years or older and a home owner.
The Aberdeen Township Zoning Board will meet on Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the Aberdeen Township Municipal Building.

The Lyme Disease Lecture night will take place on April 26, 7-9 p.m. at the Holmdel High School Auditorium, 36 Crawfords Corner Road. The event will feature experts talking about the physical, neurological, psychological and emotional aspects of Lyme disease and typical co-infections.
