Active Mendham Volunteer, Grandmother of 32 Dies at 88

MENDHAM TWP. – Patricia O’Brien was a consummate volunteer, furthering Mendham Township as a community any way possible.
The longtime resident died recently at the age of 88.
Born in Queens, O’Brien later lived in Clifton Park, New York before moving to Mendham some 40 years ago, where she and her late husband John built a life together, along with their nine children.

O’Brien was a homemaker and worked as a real estate agent for Burgdorff Realtors in Mendham for 20 years before retiring. She was a passionate member of St. Joseph Church in Mendham, where she lead the recitation of the rosary, served on the environmental committee, and prepared the Altar Linens.
O’Brien also served as an election worker, volunteer at the Mendham Township Library, and on the Mendham Township Board of Education.

O’Brien is survived by her nine children, 32 grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. She is predeceased by her late husband John.
Visitation will be held Sunday, Dec. 20 from 2 to 6 p.m. at the Bailey Funeral Home on Hilltop Road in Mendham with a Funeral Mass on Monday, Dec. 21 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Church.
