After 31 Years With Department, Police Chief Retiring In Mendham Boro
Chief John Camoia started as a patrolman in 1993, and has served as head of Mendham Borough Police for the past six years, officials said.

MENDHAM BOROUGH, NJ — Police Chief John Camoia will retire from the Mendham Borough police department this summer after more than 30 years, said Mayor Christine Serrano Glassner.
Camoia joined the department as a patrolman in 1993 and was named chief six years ago, as Glassner noted in the July "Mendham Messenger" newsletter.
He successfully brought the Borough Police Department accreditation process into action, and witnessed many changes to New Jersey policing in his time, the mayor said.

"He has navigated many State-mandated requirements, such as new trainings, the addition of School Resource Officers, and the challenges that the pandemic shutdown brought," Glassner wrote.
Borough officials will give Camoia a send-off at the next Council meeting, which is at 7 p.m. on Monday, July 22.

"We could not be more grateful for the safety and thoughtfulness that John has brought to our town," Glassner said.
Mendham Borough Police have 12 full-time officers and two Special Law Enforcement Officers on staff, and police respond to all emergencies include fire and first aid calls.
Glassner also noted that Councilman Brennan Reilly is stepping down to spend more time with his family. She thanked him for his service and the contributions he made on council, particularly on the Environmental Committee.
"I'm sure we will see him out on the trails with his boys and wife in the near future, hiking and tending the trails," she wrote.
