Man Charged With Animal Cruelty In Chester For Locking His 2 Dogs In Hot Car
This is the second incident in Chester since July, where a dog was left in their owner's car as temperatures soared.
CHESTER, NJ — It was 90 degrees in August when officers with Chester's Police Department charged a Mendham man after discovering he'd left his two dogs within his locked car.
The Chester Police Department reported about this in a news release on Thursday, classifying it among the department’s notable incidents during the month of August.
It was on Aug. 14 that responding officers were called to the Chester Springs Shopping Center about the dogs, the department stated.

The unidentified Mendham dog owner has a court date to respond to the Animal Cruelty charges, police say.
This is the second similar incident in this particular location over the summer of 2021, with the first, a Peapack and Gladstone woman’s dog who was suffering from heat effects on July 15 in her car by Home Goods, while she shopped nearby within the shopping center.
