Applications For Police Officer Being Accepted In Chester

The Chester Police Department is hiring one officer, with applications being accepted by March 24, the police department said.

CHESTER, NJ — The Chester Police Department is hiring a police officer, with the starting salary of $49,676, according to the police department.

The police department is accepting applications through the PoliceApp website here by March 24 at 11:59 p.m. There is a $25 registration fee to apply.

Qualified applicants will also need to undergo a resume review, two interviews, a background investigation, medical and psychological exams and drug testing.

The department has 23 police officers, as well as a SLEO-II and SLEO-III officer, who help provide law enforcement within Chester Borough and Township’s 31 miles, the job description states.

The hired officer will be expected to patrol assigned areas, respond to emergency situations and write precise reports about incidents they respond to among their duties, according to the application.

The police officer candidate needs to be at least 18 years of age, a United States citizen and New Jersey resident, able to read and write English fluently, have a valid New Jersey Driver’s license and minimally have an associate’s degree, with preference given to applicants with a bachelor’s degree.

Candidates are also required to have a police training certificate from the New Jersey Police Training Commission or be in a program for an alternate route certification.

In addition to the starting salary, police officers will receive health benefits, college tuition reimbursement and enrollment in the Police and Firemen’s Retirement System, among benefits.
