Bias Incident Under Investigation In Mendham Township

Officials say a letter was left in the mailbox of a new family in town.

MENDHAM TOWNSHIP, NJ — Mendham Township police have confirmed they are investigating a bias incident that happened around the New Year.

Police say a letter was left inside a Calais Road home's mailbox sometime between Dec. 30 and Jan. 1. The letter says: "This is not your town and you don't belong here. Go back to your country," Committeewoman Amalia Duarte said.

The family that received the letter is new to Mendham Township, Duarte said.
