Trespassing Women, 2 Dogs In Hot Car, Car Theft Among 3,200 August Police Calls In Chester
The Chester Police reported that they responded to over 3,200 calls, including 67 with the first aid squad. Here are details about a few.
CHESTER, NJ — A day when police interrupted car thefts, then trespassers in process and another rescuing two dogs from a hot car, were among the notable calls the Chester Police Department responded to in August.
The department reported that among the approximate 3,200 calls officers faced - 500 more than July - there were 26 car crashes that they investigated. They had 67 calls with the first aid squad and 24 with the fire department.

- When police found three unnamed women from Long Valley in an abandoned building on Oakdale Drive. Chester Police charged them in the Aug. 12 incident with criminal trespass.
- The day at the Chester Springs Shopping Center when the police learned of two dogs locked together in a hot car on Aug. 14, when it was 90 degrees outside; and they charged their unidentified Mendham owner with animal cruelty.
- On that same day, police were called to the Willow Drive neighborhood, after residents saw two cars driving through that had them concerned about car thefts and break-ins. When Chester Police showed, the two cars took off, with police following them into Morristown, the chase later abandoned. The police department reported that the one car was stolen from Twinbrooks Trail and another car from Newark.
