Chester School District Calendar For 2024-25: Key Dates To Know
Back-to-school season is approaching for the Chester School District.
CHESTER, NJ— Summer is almost over for Chester students. The first day of school in the district is Wednesday, Aug. 28.
Students in grades K-2 attend Dickerson Elementary School while students in grades 3-5 attend Bragg Intermediate School. After graduating from the elementary and intermediate schools, students in grades 6-8 attend Black River Middle School.
And once Chester students reach freshman year, they enter the West Morris Regional High School District (you can see key dates for the high schools here).

Here are some of the important 2024-25 school year dates to get on the calendar for the Chester School District:
- Start date: Wednesday, Aug. 28
- Professional development day, no school: Monday, Oct. 14
- NJEA Convention, no school: Nov. 7, 8
- Election Day: Tuesday, Nov. 5
- Thanksgiving break: Nov. 28, 29
- Winter break: Dec. 23 - Jan. 1
- Martin Luther King Jr. Day, no school: Monday, Jan. 2
- Professional development day, no school: Monday, Jan. 20
- Presidents Day: Monday, no school: Feb. 17
- Spring break: Mar. 31 - Apr. 4
- 8th grade graduation and last day of school, early dismissal: Friday, June 13.
