Downed Trees, Wires Close 2 Roads In Chester: Police
A portion of both Brook Drive and Benjamin Road are closed Friday because of downed wires, Chester Police Department said.
CHESTER, NJ — Along with closing area schools on Friday, the impact of the weather partially closed two streets in Chester, because of downed trees and wires, according to the Chester Police Department.
In two separate alerts on Friday morning, the Chester police first reported at 9:41 a.m. that Brook Drive was closed at Laurie Court, due to a downed tree and wires, with the road reopened at 11:54 a.m., police said.
Benjamin Road at Route 24 has also been closed due to “low hanging wires,” police said in a second alert at 9:44 a.m., said police.

With both incidents, police said utility companies have been notified, including Jersey Central Power & Light (JCP&L).
As of 9:50 a.m., there were 14 JCP&L customers without power in Chester Borough, 520 in Chester Township, less than five in Mendham Borough and 111 in Mendham Township, according to the utility’s outage chart.
